Dr. Matthew Gould, an accomplished guitarist, is currently the Director of SSMC. With an impressive academic background, he received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, Master of Music from the University of Arizona, and Doctorate degree from Arizona State University. Throughout his career, he has held professorial positions at renowned institutions such as Eastern Mediterranean University, Arizona State University, and University of Memphis. He is also renowned for his specialized approach in teaching children and his commitment to nurturing young talents in music using the Suzuki Method.
Dr. Gould's expertise extends beyond teaching as he actively performs internationally with various ensembles. He is a member of Duo46, the Sudbury Guitar Trio, Strung Out Trio, and B.A.M., playing compositions created specifically for him. His performances have taken him to Austria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, England, Germany, Greece, Italy, The Netherlands, Turkey, and across the United States. Notable appearances include concerts at prestigious festivals such as the Entrecuerdas Guitar Festival, Guitar Foundation of America Festival, Hermopoulis International Guitar Festival, Cortona Contemporary Music Festival, New York Guitar Seminar, and Soundscape Music Festival.
